Piercing Info

I decided to create this page to share my piercing experiences, so that if you want a piercing or are curious as to the pain, difficulties, price range I can maybe enlighten you.
I don't have many piercings at the moment (nor do I want many), but in the next few months I am getting more.
This hasn't been created to 'brag', it's to hopefully help others out on making the decision to pierce or not. Please message me if you have any questions and I'll be glad to do my best to help answer them.

1. Madonna or Monroe Piercing (upper lip piercing)
My labret is a tad large for my lip but there are several reasons for that. *Will be explained below*

When you can change to a smaller piercing (after the swelling has gone down), you can't see the part of the piercing inside your mouth, only the ball on the outer part of your mouth.

*I would like to clarify, that I have a very low pain threshold-so the pain levels that I experience most likely will be the polar opposite to yours*

~MADONNA OR MONROE PIERCING~
Pain: 2/5
Cost AUD: $70 (will differ depending on where you go to have it done)
This was my first facial piercing (aside ears) and also my first time being pierced with a needle. I got pierced at a tattoo and piercing parlour.
I did have a couple of complications with this piercing (not major as I still have it pierced), the labret I had put in when I had it pierced was too small and my lip didn't have enough space to swell. So I had to go back the next day and have an even bigger piece of jewellery put in. (obviously I just have big lips and they swelled more than most people's lips would have). Having the piercing changed to a bigger one hurt more than having it pierced. It killed, so I'd recommend having a larger labret put in then necessary just incase this occurs.
I couldn't smile properly for about 2 weeks, my lip stayed swollen for 3-4 days and I have to eat on the other side of my mouth.
I know I'm listing all the negative things that happened but this is just my experiences.

When I could change to a smaller labret, a skin lump weird thing formed on the inside of my mouth where the piercing was. I saw the doctor  and he told me it was simply from the friction of the metal against my mouth that caused this. I wasn't too fussed because it was on the inside of my mouth and not all that noticeable. He suggested I either bite it off myself (this was a doctors advice! haha) or he could remove it with local anaesthetic and a scalpel and have it sent off to a lab to examine it (make sure its not a weird tumour or something else. If this occurs for you see your doctor for advice, you may have something else occurring (or send me a pic and I'll determine whether it's likely you have what I had).
How did I sort this lump thing out? I bit it a couple times and left in a large labret so the skin could be free of the friction. It disappeared after a month or two. The mouth heals very quickly.
I still keep my large labret in, its actually fin to play with and I don't worry about the lump coming back.
DONT'S
1. Do not bite your lip jewellery, you might chip your teeth.
2. Don't forget to clean your new piercing (I cleaned mine twice to three times a day for the first couple of months, your mouth is full of bacteria remember.)
3. Don't forget to keep your oral hygiene clean and healthy. This means brush your teeth! My lip piercing doesn't get in the way when I brush my teeth.

JEWELLERY
Plastic labrets are actually more clean and better on your teeth then metal ones. My experience with plastic labrets however is that they break so quickly and easily. I spent $30 AUD in one week on two labrets (plastic) and they just fell apart. I have yet to find good plastic lip jewellery, but when I do find one, I'll post a link.

Even with all the ups and downs I love this piercing to death! It's probably the only lip piercing I could categorise as 'classy'. My work didn't mind it, you can always wear a small labret with a simple crystal in it-something subtle and cute.
Any questions just message me.
Happy piercing!

*I'd recommend going to a professional to get this one done, I'm all for DIY ear piercing but when it comes to your face, it's a different story. Trust me, I know someone who did it themselves and they wish they'd just spent the money on getting it done properly.*

So in love with this piercing!

MORE TO COME!!!

Art

My artwork's subject matter is normally that of a horse or some sort of equine species. I've always felt a strong connection with horses, and they've taught me so much. I currently own a black standardbred gelding named Flynn. Flynn has been featured in my artwork on countless occasions and has been such a great horse for putting up with me and my weird creations.

Finally completed.

I'm thinking of making a series of these.

Headdress Time!

I made a headdress not all that long ago as an art project. But really I just wanted to find an excuse to make one, as I'm hoping to attend a few festivals soon (I finish school in just over a month). I'm hoping to travel-not very far to start with, but I'd love to go to a few music festivals and get some use out of my headdress.
